Paris and Rome spring 2024

I am offering a non-district sponsored Paris and Rome trip from Friday, March 29th to Monday, April 8th.  The price is $4,578, which includes round trip airfare, lodging, insurance, bus rides, train, metro and museum passes, meals for all but four and a half days and multiple excursions.
Attached you will find the itinerary for the trip.

Because of the cultural and linguistic immersiveness of the trip, the travelers must be current or former students of mine. Travelers are not required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, but may be asked to wear masks in airports, airplanes, trains.

For more information, please email me at [email protected].

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I know that I will be safe?

We all sign up for the STEP program, which is set up by the U.S. Department of State.  When we sign up, we indicate where we will be and on what dates.  If anything unusual is happening, we will each immediately get notifications on our phones.  This includes metro lines shutting down, protests that are taking place, or any kind of danger or unrest.  I also will tell you the two places to avoid in Paris and we will all be together whenever it is dark.    Frankly, the biggest risk will be simply crossing streets, which I will carefully train you on how to do.

If we wanted to bring extra pocket money, where would be the best place to exchange currency before the trip?

I recommend bringing about 200 euros in cash.  We will each be contributing 3 euros a day to any tour guides or drivers as tips, and this will be done in cash.  Street food purchases are typically cash only as well. When ordering your euros, be sure to get denominations of 20s, 10s and 5s.  Many places will not accept bills of 50 or higher.  I prefer to get mine from Continental Currency Services in Pomona, although sometimes they have a limited supply of smaller denominations.

If the trip were to be cancelled, how much money would be refunded?

I have being taking trips to Paris since 2006 and have never cancelled, nor do I intend to do so.  And Forum by Prométour does not either.  If the trip is postponed, you will still be enrolled and we will do our best to insure that you do not have to pay any extra.  If you think you might cancel, then I recommend buying the Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) insurance when you sign up, which will enable you to get most of your money back.

Do I have to be vaccinated against COVID19 to go on this trip?

No, although this may change.

What will I need to do to be ready for this trip?

Here is a checklist of what needs to be done before take off.  Put an X in each box as you get each thing done, so that I can know what I need to remind you about.

Where will we be staying?
The students will be divided into groups of two or three.  The homestay will take place in the city of Lisses, a suburb of Paris, and then we will be staying in the Latin Quarter at a hotel called Hôtel André Latin.  In Rome, we will be staying at the Albergo Santa Chiara.
